Four Ways to Optimize Your Website

The main goal of search engine optimization is to have search engine spiders find your website and rank it relative to the content on the site. The easier the search engine algorithms have doing this, the higher your website will rank. The entire process of page optimization is not a one-time thing. It requires constant upkeep and maintenance. In this article, I will go over four ways that will help with this process.

1) Properly analyze your websites information

I always like to start with analysis of my competitor’s websites in the same niche. I see what’s already working for them and use that to my advantage. This means examining the use of their keywords and what kind of content they are providing within the site. Tools such as Semrush.com and Keywordspy.com are very useful to help with this. After I have a good understanding of my completion, I begin to analyze my own site. I look at different aspects such as performance, security, accessibility, and overall design first. Once the more of the “development” side of the website feels complete and up to standards, I then look at own Meta sets/data and research proper keywords to use that match my sites theme and content. Creating a prioritized list of targeted search terms related to your customer base and market segment really helps with this. This leads us to the second way to optimize your website.

2) Develop and Research Keywords

Create a list of keywords and phrases that are pertinent to the niche your website is in. Prioritize keywords and phrases, plurals, singulars and misspellings. (If search users commonly misspell a keyword, you should identify and use it).You can then use this list to determine an indicative number of recent search engine queries and how many websites are competing for each key¬word. This will give you a much better understanding of where you should put the focus of your content and what keywords will give you the better ranking within the search engines. This process takes time and should be done thoroughly. There are also plenty of tools to help you with this procedure as well.

3) Optimize and Submit Content

The importance of structuring your pages properly should not be overlooked. Making sure you have accurate page titles, correct Meta data, and proper headings can really help with optimizing you content for search engines. Another important part of optimizing your content is to naturally include your keywords and phrases. Google and other search engines are getting much better at figuring out what the best content is. Keyword cramming will no longer work. It is best to just have natural and original content. In the end, the users, the marketplace, content and links will determine the popularity and ranking numbers.

4) Constant Measuring and Testing

A pages search engine optimization should not be just a single occurrence. Using tools such as Google Analytics, you should be constantly evaluating your pages success and looking for ways to improve. Make sure to have assessments of individual keyword performance. If you’re not getting the results you want, change things up!

These are just four general tips that should help you get on your way to better search engine optimization. There is much more that goes into each of these but having a good understanding of the basics is a good start. I hope you enjoyed the article and learned something!
